I am reposting this item as a reminder to conduct regular inspections of your toilets. A neighbor recently found a crack in one of the upstairs bathroom toilets. Fortunately the owner was at home so was able to avert a disaster and expensive insurance claim. This the third such incident that I am aware of so please read the embedded article and conduct regular inspections.

I discovered my toilet had developed a hairline crack. Naturally I was curious as to whether or not this was cause for concern so I did some research and asked around and found this problem is perhaps more prevalent than one would expect. There have been a few residents that have experienced issues with cracked toilets, some of which were catastrophic. Periodically expect your toilets for signs or water leakage associated with cracks or other failures and when in doubt consult a professional or error on the side of caution haveScreen Shot 2016-03-13 at 3.41.54 PM your toilet replaced to avoid costly Insurance claims.
