Hello Block Watch Captains and Co-Captains,

In response to a recent spike in bicycle thefts, and as a way to solve a big gap in returning recovered bicycles to their owners, I invite you to bring your bicycles to our bike registration event on July 12th from 2 PM to 6 PM at the South Surrey Recreation Centre (see attachment).

529 Garage allows cyclists to easily and securely register their bikes for free through their website or mobile application. It records the serial #, photos and other identifying information of the bicycle. An optional tamper-resistant sticker shield can be purchased to stick on the bicycle with a unique ID number, but at this event we will be giving them away for FREE (while supplies last).

In the event of a theft, registered users can broadcast a “missing bike bulletin” to the 529 community and social networks to assist in recovering a stolen bike.  Additionally, the 529 program generates a detailed report that can be provided to police and insurance companies.

Police can also search for stolen or recovered bicycles registered with 529 Garage by serial number, make, model, colour or shield ID number.

Don’t miss your chance, as this may be our last South Surrey registration event of the summer. Please contact me if you would like more information about the program.
