The following Break and Enter was reported by a neighbouring Block Watch Coordinator (District 5-363)
DATE & TIME: June 30 at 2:30 a.m.
LOCATION: 16132 – 28A Ave.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY:
At 2:30 am on Monday, June 30th the home at the above location was broken into. The owners remembered putting the garage door down when they arrived home that night, but did not lock the door between the garage and house. It is believed the individual(s) used a remote control and clicked it at the homes on the street until a garage door opened that had the same frequency as the remote. When they successfully opened a garage door, they entered, tried the door to the house which was not locked and entered, setting off the warning alarm which woke up the residents and then the full alarm sounded. The thieve(s) stole the resident’s purse and fled. The residents did not see anyone flee their home, but when the resident went down stairs found the unlocked door, the garage door up and upon further inspection the purse missing. RCMP were called.
The RCMP advised the owners there is a lock button on the garage door openers that will prevent the garage door from going up. I will try to get more information on this and share it with all of you.
If you heard or saw anything suspicious around 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. on Monday June 30th please call the non-emergency number for the RCMP at 604-599-0502 to provide details further to this alert quoting the Police File number above.
