Sometime during the past couple weeks, a resident on the 3122 side of complex had their vehicle broken into and the garage door opener used to break into the garage.The car was unlocked. Nothing appeared to be stolen but this is yet another stark reminder that thieves are continually prowling around at night looking for an opportunity to steal something.
It is very disturbing that these individual(s) are not just checking our vehicles, but are bold enough to attempt entry into our home. Please ensure your doors are locked and garages closed before retiring for evening. As an added precaution make sure the door leading from the garage to the house is also locked at night. You can also activate the locking feature on your inside garage door opener which prevents the door from being opened using a remote control. If you have an alarm, please ensure it is set when you are away from home, or before you go to bed.
Don’t be a victim! Please ensure you take a few extra moments each night to check your doors and vehicles. If you happen to notice your neighbour’s garage door open late at night, be a good neighbour and let them know. As usual if you observe anything suspicious, call the police 911 emergency. To report a crime not in progress, use the non-emergency number (604-599-0502).
