Attempted vehicle break in at neighbouring block watch community
DATE & TIME: July 19th at 4:39 am
LOCATION: 2852 – 161 Street
DESCRIPTION OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY:
This morning at 4:39 a.m. the external security system was triggered by movement in the driveway and set off the alarm in the resident’s bedroom. The occupant checked outside from the balcony and witnessed a man in his 20’s riding a bike and wearing a black back pack, jeans and a jacket. He was medium build and I estimate around 5’7”-ish. The bike was a fat-tire one with straight handle bars, ie looked more like a mountain bike vs a racing bike. He had obviously checked the car to see if it was locked (thus triggering the motion detectors outside) and then went on up 28A Ave. to the vehicles parked on the street, looking inside and trying the doors. He then tried the driver side door on the Infiniti parked at the above address which triggered the car alarm. At this point he sped off on his bike south up 161 Street towards 28th Ave. During this time The resident called 911 providing information and the RCMP were dispatched. Two patrol cars arrived within approximately 5 minutes. Patrols I’m area were negative.
If you saw anything suspicious during this time, or if you also had your vehicle broken into, no matter how small please call the Surrey RCMP non-emergency number at 604-599-0502 as well as me to report the incident. Also I would suggest you check your license plates and VAL tag.
Again, thank you all for your commitment to the Block Watch Crime Prevention Program; your support is greatly appreciated.
