There have been several post recently about the Fisher Paykel refrigerators and failure of the water valve. More recently a home owner has now experience a failure of the hosing leading to the valve. The owner notice a small pool of water in front of the fridge and underneath and upon investigating found a pin size hole in the plastic tubing as shown in the photo below. The hole was barely visible to the naked eye and no doubt left un-repaired would have increased in size resulting in a catastrophic failure of the line causing significant damage.
Owners are once again encourage to pull their refrigerators out and inspect the water lines and valves for leakage, or call a qualified service repair person if you suspect a leak.
It is also recommended owners invest in water leakage detection devices to alert them in the event of any water leaks from any number of appliances or toilets. There are many devices available on the market that provide early warnings, some of which send notifications via cell phone apps. Other can be connected to the main water supply that will shut off the water once a leak is detected.
