Water leaks are unfortunately a problem that any one of as home owners may experience – from a failed refrigerator water valve, leaking toilet, washing machine or any number of water sources in our homes. Unfortunately when such leaks occur, most home owners are not home or not able to catch them in time before there is catastrophic damage.

One solution that can help provide early notice of a leak and avoid costly insurance claims is a Water Leak Detection Device. These are electronic devices that are easy to installed with minimal effort in areas where leaks may occur such as under your refrigerator, laundry room or behind a toilet.

Depending on the devices, they can detect in some cases trace amounts of water and set off an audible alarm to alert the occupant. Some devices can also send an alert to a device via a wifi connection so even if your are not home you can received an early alert.

I have done some research of what devices are available on the market and there are many. One of the top rated devices on the majority of the reviews is the Honeywell device. See link https://www.reviewed.com/smarthome/best-right-now/best-smart-water-leak-detectors

This is not the cheapest device on the market which lists on amazon at approx $79.00 Cdn but if you shop around you may be able to find it cheaper in the US or at Best Buy. If purchased on Amazon it comes with a 4 ft extension as well. This device has a 3 yr battery life, audible alarm and wifi connectivity to send push notifications or email message to smart devices.

There are many devices out there as you can imagine so I recommend doing some research yourself for the best model that meets your personal needs.
