WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET
Strata Council would like to remind owners that being a responsible pet/dog owner and a good citizen is picking up after your dog. Recently there have been numerous instances where dog owners have used the green space within Wills Creek to exercise their dogs and not cleaned up after them. Although owners are encouraged to share this space with their pets, there is also a responsibility to ensure you pick up after your dog.
Please consider the following;
1. It’s the law!
Most communities and Stratas require dog owners to pick up after their pets. In these neighborhoods, there are signs clearly stating the rules. Despite this, there are still dog owners who refuse to clean up after their pets.
Strata BCS 3334 Bylaws refer
5.11 A pet owner must ensure that a Permitted Pet is kept quiet, controlled and clean. Any excrement on common property or on land that is a common asset, including without limitation the Common Building and Facility, must be immediately disposed of by the pet owner.
5.15 An owner of a pet shall not permit the pet to defecate on the common property or limited common property, and if any pet does defecate on the common property to limited common property, the owner shall immediately and completely remove all of the pet’s waste in a sealed plastic bag and dispose of it in a waste container or by some other sanitary means
2. Even when “Pick up the Poop” signs aren’t posted, cleaning up after your dog is always the right thing to do. It’s unfair to other residents to leave your dog’s poop laying around. No one likes to step in poop and take it into homes, cars, and businesses. If you’ve ever tried to get dog poop out of the treads of your shoes, you know how infuriating it can be. As well, our green spaces are used by families and their children to enjoy the natural surroundings of Wills Creeks, we also use these areas to host our widely accepted movie night. Don’t force your neighbors to become poop police, please respect our community and pick up after your dog.
